Possible Side Effects

Serious adverse reactions can occur. Toxic effects that have been reported in horses include oral and GI erosions and ulcers, hypoalbuminemia, diarrhea, right dorsal colitis, anorexia, and renal effects (azotemia, renal papillary necrosis).

Drug & Food Interactions

Use with caution in patients who have a history of drug allergy.

Precautions

Stop medication at the first sign of gastrointestinal upset, jaundice, or blood dyscrasia. In the treatment of inflammatory conditions associated with infections, specific anti-infective therapy is required.

Ingredients

Each syringe contains 20 gm Phenylbutazone. Each 3 mL marking on the plunger contains 1 gm Phenylbutazone.

Instructions

Recommended Dosage

1 gm to 2 gm of Phenylbutazone per 500 lb body weight, but not to exceed 4 g daily.
